Our friends at Sony Pictures asked us to help promote Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, and already having a working relationship with Crunchyroll and experience not only with the title but also with the fans, we were excited and so, so ready! Through a social first campaign we ignited the fandom by identifying tentpole opportunities that were inline with what fans were expecting and wanting, while intriguing new and old viewers to get to the theater and experience this wild ride in person.

From # 1 movie in theaters to the highest rated film on Letterboxed

Chainsaw Man the anime is a highly rated though unconventional title with an enthusiastic fanbase. In order to build intrigue and relevancy we needed to understand the landscape and general appeal. Like Denji’s voracious appetite for food and the good things in life, anime fans will jump on every opportunity to indulge in their obsession with their favorite genres and shows. As the appeal of anime has grown worldwide we embraced the chaos and pulled fans into the mix through bold visuals and a maximalist mindset. Through a drive to give the fans more, more, more, the film became not only the #1 movie in theaters for 7 weeks in Japan and several weeks worldwide but it also became the highest rated film of the year on Letterboxd!
